Balaia Golf Village Ranked as One of World’s Best Hotels on Expedia®Insiders’ Select™ List
Albufeira, Algarve 2010 –Expedia® travelers have ranked Balaia Golf Village among the world’s best hotels on this year’s Expedia Insiders’ Select™ list.
The list formally recognizes individual hotels worldwide that consistently deliver excellent service, a great overall experience and a notable value. The full list represents only a small percentage of the world’s top hotels from the more than 110,000 hotel properties offered on Expedia.

Jamie Cullum Concert @ Balaia Golf Village.
Jamie Cullum In August, the voice of British artist Jamie Cullum can once again be heard in Portugal. Singer, composer, pianist, guitarist and drummer, Jamie Cullum will be returning to Portugal to perform as part of the “Allgarve ’10” programme. He will be presenting “The Pursuit”, his latest album, which was released in November 2009 and features the combined pop/jazz version of the Rihanna original, “Don’t Stop the Music”.
“Life is one long pursuit”, says the artist, speaking on his official website about the name “The Pursuit”, a work in which he combines his eclectic taste in music with his love for the sounds of jazz.
His début disc, “Heard it All Before” was released in 1999. That edition comprised only 500 copies, which quickly sold out. Today, four albums later, (one of which was the best ever seller in the UK of a studio version by a jazz musician), an original copy of that first album can be sold for as much as 700 euros at online auctions.

Blue Flag Beach Awards.
A record number of beaches in the region will be flying the Blue Flag this summer.
69 Blue Flag beaches have been named in the Algarve, 15 more than in 2009 and the highest ever in the region.
The official list of Blue Flags, awarded nationally, was announced on May 7 by the President of the Commission of the European Blue Flag (ABAE), José Archer.
Albufeira has been awarded the most Blue Flags, 19 in total.
Albufeira Mayor Desidério Silva said: “These awards bring great satisfaction to the whole team who work hard throughout the year to ensure safe, healthy and user-friendly beaches. The Blue Flags are an indication that Albufeira beaches are highly recommended to all lovers of sun, sand and sea this year.”
Lagos, Portimão, Albufeira and Vilamoura marinas will also be flying the flag.
